New Mini Canvas - Pòoko

Our new mini canvas celebrates a long history of friendship between people and dogs. Pòoko - Hopi for dog runs across the desert carrying elements of prayer upon her. Pòoko jumps over a migration symbol representing the historic companionship of dogs and humans. Paw prints next to human prints celebrate the finding of nearly 3000-year-old tracks preserved in a hardened plant field near Tucson, Arizona. On this ancient summer day, monsoon rains caused a creek to overflow flooding a field. As the water left, a layer of sand covered the field burying the footprints of nine adults, two children, and a dog. These are some of the oldest prints found and are a symbol of the long legacy of indigenous people and dogs in the southwest.
