Gerald Dawavendewa (Hopi & Cherokee)
A couple journeys through life with good will and blessings surrounded with elements of life. A blue corn plant, a unique plant grown by the Hopi in the desert, stands with a woman with a traditional dress with corn seed designs. Corn is not only food, but it is also a part of ceremonies and rituals. A Hopi male whose clothing carries water symbols stands next to a prayer bundle. A bundle is an act of blessing not only for the couple but of all life that surrounds them. Gathering around the couple are butterflies symbolized as flowers, both represent moisture and the life-giving rains that come to the desert land. Above the couple within the cosmos is the sun and stars with a spiral representing the journey the couple takes through life.
